Most studies hand you the meaning and ask you to read it again with a highlighter. This one sends you to go get it, then makes you write it down in your own words. That's the whole difference.

Everyone writes in their own, so a group needs a copy each. Small groups usually land on five.
“This gave me a great way to start studying the bible with the people I'm leading”
How it works.
Go look it up
Every verse is given to you, so there's nothing to decode. You read what sits before and after it, and try a second translation.
Say it back
Close the Bible and put it in your own words from memory, no looking back. That page is doing the heaviest lifting in the book.
Then wait
Each hunt tells you to stop and come back in a few days, so you can write down what actually showed up in your week.
Why the pause matters
Sunday is where you agree with it. Tuesday is where you need it.
A good word on Sunday is easy to nod at. Recognizing it on a Tuesday, when both options look fine and nobody's coming to tell you which one, is a different thing. That's what the pause is for.
Is this for you?
You definitely want this if
- You could quote a verse about wisdom but couldn't say why you believe it
- You're tired of borrowing your beliefs from a Sunday sermon
- You've started studies before and quit the second they felt like homework
- You want the words for what you believe, not more things to believe
- You've got questions you were made to feel bad for asking
Hard pass if
- You want someone to hand you the conclusions
- You'd rather not write in a book
- Checking the box is working just fine for you
- You're not willing to get it wrong first
New or seasoned, it fits either way. You write the answers, so the book asks and leaves you the room. Somebody brand new writes a real answer. Somebody thirty years in writes a deeper one. Same page, no answer key to be behind on.
And it won't tell you what to think. There's a page in here called Tensions to Hold, where two things in scripture look like they disagree and you're allowed to sit in that instead of being handed the tidy answer. If you've come from somewhere that treated your questions like a problem, this was built to do the opposite.
What people are saying
“I'm so annoyed, but I think this book is actually working”
“This is SO NEEDED. People are having to ask the hard questions and unfortunately feel like they need to do it on their own because the Christianese shuts it down”
“wait, why was this so fun?”
“this hits different”

Wild disciples don't borrow their faith.
They own it.
